Since 2006, Get Turner has been operating at the intersection of eco-design and house construction, delivering sustainable buildings across London. Our team has over 40 years of experience in the construction industry and with our sister company Architecture for London, we offer a 360 service in delivering low-energy homes and mixed-use buildings.

With Get Turner, you can trust that your project is in good hands from start to finish. We will oversee every aspect of the build with diligent attention to detail from design, and construction management to quality control, ensuring that your eco-home is built to last.

Why does London want sustainable builders?

The Mayor of London has committed to zero carbon London by 2030, a deadline previously set at 2050. This reinforces the necessity and urgency of environmentally conscious house design and delivery in the built environment, ensuring London is at the forefront of the low-carbon cities movement.

Sustainable construction methods are now best practice and we are committed to working toward a greener London for future generations. Advancements in material technology and construction allow the Get Turner team to deliver sustainable buildings that are less costly to run in the long term and can be more valuable to sell on.

Sustainable builders are equipped with the resources and expertise to deliver eco-builds on time and within budget. The Get Turner team specialises in sustainable building methods and offers a comprehensive service that aligns with current government guidelines for building sustainable homes.

As is set out in the Mayor of London’s ‘Design Standards’ and ‘Sustainability Standards’ and is supported by the GLA mission statement, new homes need to reflect the London Plan in design and sustainability.

‘All new homes delivered and invested in by the Mayor of London should aim to exhibit high-quality design that is socially and economically inclusive, and environmentally conscious. New homes should prioritise Londoners’ well-being and significantly add to their quality of life. With partners, together we aim to create resilient and diverse places where people feel a sense of belonging and can build a community. We will be bold to champion and promote good design, irrespective of tenure or value.’

New homes must adhere to six sustainability standards ranging from reduction of carbon emissions on site, life-cycle carbon, energy monitoring, and air quality to urban greening and heat risk management.

Existing properties too can benefit from following these guidelines, employing simple sustainable elements and prioritising low-energy consumption. Our team can offer support for smaller sustainable upgrades, from improving energy efficiency with appliances to installing insulation and secondary glazing to improve the building’s thermal performance.

What does a sustainable builder do differently?

Our team of sustainable builders are highly trained in installing solar panels, heat pumps, airtightness layers, and insulation. We have ample experience in the successful installation of these in listed buildings, bringing heritage homes and buildings to a Passivhaus standard.
