Norman Grove, E3
2-storey, Victorian terraced house
Side return extension, first floor extension, full-house refurbishment
Lee J Davidson / Get Turner Ltd (developed an existing design)
This client came to us with a partially completed design for a rear extension and full-house refurb. Our designers worked on the finer details with the client so that all elements were construction-ready. As the client was about to move abroad, we kept in long-distance contact with her, and her UK-based father made regular site visits to check progress.
The ground floor of the house was enlarged with a rear side return extension, which doubled the width of the old kitchen to make a large kitchen/dining area. A third bedroom was added on the first floor and the upstairs space was reconfigured to fit in a good-sized main bathroom and an en-suite. We matched the brick stock to the existing façade, so the extension merges seamlessly with the rest of the house.
The sash windows at the front were replaced and, at the rear, we installed anthracite grey aluminium windows to the first-floor bedrooms to match the elegant Crittal-style steel doors leading outside from the kitchen. These doors and large rooflight flood the room with natural light and the polished concrete floor and silestone worktops add a real touch of contemporary class.
We designed and installed a large set of bespoke fitted wardrobes in the main bedroom, as well as bespoke storage in another bedroom, the kitchen and both bathrooms. A full electrical re-wire, a new heating system, new flooring and internal and external decoration completed the works.
We found both the client and her father a joy to work with and are delighted that they are so happy with the finished result.
