This was our third project with Holland Harvey Architects, who recommended Get Turner to the client. The design was meticulously planned to transform the client’s large, but crowded, 3-bed, 3-bathroom flat into a flowing, luxurious contemporary space.

We demolished walls and stripped out everything to leave a huge open shell. We added partitions to create the new layout which now includes: a corridor running the length of the flat; an open-plan kitchen/dining area; a lounge area; a large master bedroom and bathroom, with dressing area in-between; a guest bedroom/bike room and a guest bathroom.

The clever design allows great flexibility, with different areas able to be open or closed off. Crittal steel doors divide the main flat from the entrance lobby and a wide set of Crittal doors lead into the dining/kitchen area. Sliding ‘pocket’ doors can divide the master bedroom area from the rest of the flat, and can also close off both the master bedroom and master bathroom.

Bespoke joinery features heavily, as a major design feature as well as practical necessity. Our joiner hand-made and installed the walnut, blue and white units in the kitchen and utility, a range of storage units, wardrobes and shelving throughout the flat, and the two vanity units in the master bathroom.

In the dressing area he made matching bespoke wardrobes and an island drawer unit, which is topped with a flecked ‘Terrazzo’ slab. Different styles of this material were also chosen for the kitchen worktops, and the floor, walls and countertops in the master bathroom.

Other features include a large, bespoke shower enclosure for two in the spectacular master bathroom, and, in the master bedroom, vented cupboards above the bed for an aircon unit. The quirkiest design feature is the guest bathroom shower, which was designed to accommodate the client’s treasured bikes when they need a wash, as well as his guests!
